Kelley, Boo and I once again returned to the Rawah wilderness for a weekend of backpacking. The Rawah is my favorite local backpacking area. It seems that whenever I enter, I discover a new region with wonderful views, and outstanding ambiance. This trip was no different, we made our way 8 or so miles in to around 11,000 feet at the base of the Twin Crater Lakes. We camped in a valley where snow melted into waterfalls and collected as streams crisscrossing around our tent. You can click on the image below to be taken to the gallery for this event. Enjoy!

Buffalo has taken it to Wedding City! With the Worden getting married to Kristen on the 8th of September and Mark getting married to Nicole on the 15th – it is a shame I don’t live closer.. Unfortunately, I will have to miss Mark’s wedding, since I will be in the weekend before for Brian’s. Hopefully, Mark and Nicole can join me for dinner on Friday the 7th.. I still need to confirm this.
I won’t be able to stay much longer than that weekend (Thursday late night through Sunday morning) because of work etc, and I am bummed I won’t be able to see any of the EA crew while I am there – far too much to do in a short amount of time. I know that Snakes will have just moved back to Buffalo from L.A. on the 8th and am sad to miss seeing his new place (also, Jamie and Peter have been in living in E.A. for a while now in their new home!) , but hey, I will be home to the Christmas holiday break this year (as planned right now at least) so we can at least hang then.

Go Bills!

Last weekend, Kelley, Boo!, and I were joined by our good friends, Alex, Anya, and their dog Moby for a backpacking trip to Medicine Bow, WY. In specific, we went into the Snowy Range area where there are lots of mountain lakes and rocky peaks. We ended up arriving on a drizzling Friday afternoon and only hiked in about 2 miles before settling a perfect spot on the north side of Lookout Lake. The rain lasted through that afternoon and the night, and we awoke to a gorgeous Saturday morning. We quickly decided that there was no need to pack up and travel this day as our camp was better than anything else we could expect to find. We fished, hiked around the area and just relaxed – a real vacation. We spent that night and hiked out on Sunday, thoroughly relaxed. Check out a quick photo gallery of the event – I am sure you will wish you were there too!

Wow, what a busy month! First, Kelley turned 27 on June 6th, then it was off to Hot Springs Virginia for a great wedding celebration for Andy and Courtney Shultz – Congratulations!. Upon returning to Colorado, Kelley and I closed on our first house (June 15th) and the following day were off to Redfeather Lakes for a second grand wedding celebration for Anya and Alex Blank – Congratulations! We returned to move all of our worldly possessions to our new place. Now, a week later (and still June) WE ARE OFF TO GREECE! Woohoo!

I think that I sent a whole bunch of you a picture message from Kelley and my St. Patrick’s day weekend in Steamboat Springs. We had an awesome weekend full of skiing and green beer – the best St. Patrick’s day that I can remember. As far as this guy goes he was alright, handing out chocolate coins and being quite jolly – however, we didn’t get a picture of the dude he was with – a second (drunken) leprechaun in street clothes who kept telling us (and the dozen or so children that ran up to him) to rub the leprechaun’s belly. At one point he told me he got $5,000 dollars the last time he did it .. creepy!

Our hosts, Kelley’s best friend Hilary and her boyfriend Mark showed us a great time. We can’t wait to return to Steamboat this summer for some biking and hiking!

Wow, there is a lot of stuff to update here! I guess I will start with where we left off on the last post and that was SNOW! As you know, Kelley and I spent some time down in Durango this Christmas – we rented an SUV and picked up Kelley’s sister, Heather from the Colorado Springs airport and completed the trek down to Durango without incident – it was snowy all around but the roads were perfectly maintained. Durango was, as always, a blast – lots of relaxation and laughs – it felt great! Click the image below to see all the pictures from Durango:

Of course, when we packed up to come home Colorado was getting another big bad blizzard. It took us 12 hours to travel north to Denver from Durango. This trip usually only takes 6 hours. Heather’s flight out of Colorado Springs was canceled of course and rather than trek another 4 hours north to Fort Collins (usually only takes 1 hour) we spent the night in Denver. The following day we learned that the snow caused CSU to be closed (3 and a half snow days so far this year!) and after driving back to Fort Collins and shoveling out – we were free to relax from the trip north.

Of course, we had to rest up for New Years! We decided to go out to the bars this year and got a whole crew together – we had a great time and drank way too much. Today we are going to sleep a lot and complete a mini detox session. HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Well, we made it out to the mountains for skiing yesterday for the first time this season. We went to Loveland Ski Resort (we got a four pack to this mountain this year since we had never been). Click on the image below for more pictures in the Gallery:

Loveland is located right off the I70 and sits right on top of the Eisenhower Tunnel. This “Basin” is where we spent the whole day and despite the hurricane force winds at the top – the views and sunshine kept us going. I am looking forward to Loveland later in the season after some fresh powder as their bowls looked like fun – although there was a lot of exposed areas which prevented me from taking my babies (Rossignol Bandit B2s) up there.
